About Me

Jeremy Newland -

My love of fitness started early in life. I was always the short and skinny guy growing up. That's when I found my idol, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who seemed larger than life to me. At that time in my young existence, being big and strong was all I wanted; so I began looking into bodybuilding. I became hooked on fitness and have never looked back. I make it a point to try everything I can including bodybuilding, power lifting, Crossfit, HIIT, Kettlebells, bodyweight, and anything else in-between.

I've accomplished quite a bit in life: I became a father, I served in the Marine Corps, I grew in my career, and finally I'm able to pursue the career path I am most passionate about. I first became a certified trainer back in 2010 through another organization but I felt like I did not know enough or feel challenged enough to really be able to effectively train anyone. So that certification expired and I continued to try and learn all that I could. That's when I stumbled across ISSA and NASM. They renewed my fire for training and since gaining my Trainer certification through them I have been taking any specialist certifications that I can.

A large influence in my life is Norse mythology and culture. This is where "Tyr" comes from. Tyr was one of the Norse gods of war (predominantly associated with justice and formalities). He was strong and fierce in battle, knew a little something about sacrifice, and was known for upholding laws and justice. So why use this in the name? Working towards achieving your health and fitness goals is a battle, and the adversary is yourself. You have to confront all your own bad habits, acknowledge your own flaws, and have the courage to challenge yourself to make self improvements.

“with his sacrifice… not only procures the salvation of the gods but also regularizes it: he renders legal that which, without him, would have been pure fraud.” ~ Georges Dumézil
